Founding of the New England Dream Center

I am a founding member and former Executive Board Member of the New England Dream Center. After years of trying to help build an organization that would reach the inner cities and help the downtrodden resume a life of dignity and purpose I collaborated with Pastor Will Bard the founder of the New England Dream Center to form what is today one of the largest social service organizations in New England. The New England Dream Center reaches deep into the core of a society that needs help to understand their situations and direct them back to reconciliation with their community.
This could not have happened without a hands on approach. It is wonderful to be able to get to a place where you can affect an individual’s life in a positive manner and help lift them up from where they are. You will see by the programs that are provided by the NEDC that people’s lives have been dramatically changed.
The program lists at the NEDC are quite extensive and reach out to people of every situation. You can find the list below:

The Adopt-a-Block program is God’s heart expressed through our lives to the community He has given us. It is the eyes and ears in the community to find the hurts and needs of the people we are called to serve. Once we are able to correctly identify the needs of the people, we have the ability to build relationships that are relevant, effective, and have the potential to be long lasting.

The Adult Day Health Program offers a state of the art day program in a safe, secure, and energetic setting designed to allow a participant to experience qualities of life that we feel are of the utmost importance: love, hope and joy.

Dream Center Diner Offered every Sunday afternoon at the NEDC. It is geared to those in need as well as the homeless. We are currently serving an average of 100 people at each meal.

Dreams &s; Wishes With the donation of new unwrapped toys, board games, and bicycles for children, age 0-18, the NEDC assists families in celebrating Christmas in such a way that most only dream of. These gifts keep giving throughout the year as gifts are given at monthly city youth birthday parties hosted at NEDC.

Warm-Up Project We are providing many homeless, struggling, and displaced children and adults with new and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves.

Ellen Bard Foster Care Program: Why are youths in foster care?Children and adolescents are placed out of their homes when there are concerns that the family home is unsafe, or when their own behavior puts them at risk. Foster care may be used on a short-term basis to stabilize a crisis, or on a long-term basis to address more serious family problems. The goal for most children in care is to return home or move to a long-term living situation.

Ignite is the NEDC’s Children’s Outreach Program that is uniquely designed to reach kids from Worcester’s inner city communities. Children, ages 5 to 12, will learn how God is relevant in their daily lives, through developmentally appropriate methods of teaching and interaction that are high energy and tons of fun!

What is our mission?
To Ignite hope in your future, in your faith and in your dreams!

New England Christian Performing Arts Center (NECPAC) where excellence and character matter. Christian dance program offering classes in ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz and hip-hop” for ages 3 and up.

Renewal is a faith-based substance abuse rehabilitation program that integrates Christian values, principles, and practices to traditional/secular drugs and alcohol therapeutic models. Renewal’s holistic and therapeutic approach reaches out to the inner city and alcohol dependent population who desire reconciliation back to God. Individuals wanting to be healed, restored, and integrated back into society as responsible and productive citizens. This program is reaching all communities.

Royal Family Kids' Camp gives children a week of positive memories in a Christian environment.
Camp is FUN
In addition to receiving the attention and encouragement of an adult camp counselor and his/her "buddy camper," each camper is also exposed to a variety of fun activities, designed for their success and to build self esteem.
Where do the children we serve come from?
It happens more often than any of us want to believe. Each year, over 3 million American children are reported as abused... physically attacked, emotionally damaged, sexually molested, or severely neglected - often by the people they have loved and trusted most.

The Social Day Care offers a safe, supervised, social setting with individual and group activities that encourage elders to interact with one another. The program is available to elders aged 60 and older, including those with Alzheimer's disease or memory disorders.

This has been one of my most fulfilled dreams. To help build this multi purpose organization helping everybody from all walks of life. This is a perfect of example of “Experience, Vision, and the Fortitude to Make Change” (Frank Beshai)
